A smaller carbon footprint

Greater environmental responsibility has been HERMA’s mantra for many years. Among other things, this means keeping one eye on the electricity meter. Now, it is turning its attention to the CO2 emissions.

By continuously optimising power consumption and applying certified energy management methods the self-adhesive specialist has in recent years been a model of sustainability.

Now, it is turning its attention to the CO2 emissions from fossil fuels, because here too, improvements are possible. So the next stage has been to convert HERMA’s production facilities to power from renewable energies. For the years 2015-2017 the company has obtained the respective guarantees of origin: it gets all its electricity from hydropower.

If HERMA used a conventional energy mix, emissions would stand at around 8,000 tonnes of CO2 for the current year alone, a substantial volume that has now been cut. But HERMA demonstrates its environmental awareness in other ways too, such as by recycling release liner. Every year, this saves more CO2 than is emitted by HERMA’s entire fleet of cars, making HERMA’s carbon footprint where driving is concerned virtually nil.
